Dirk Vollmer, born in 1973 in Freiburg, Germany, grew up in the border triangle between Germany-Switzerland-France. He studied law at Freiburg University and completed his legal training at the Regional Court (LG) Karlsruhe, and in Strasbourg. He implemented procedures for the recovery of Community subsidies for cross-border projects for the Alsace region and its INTERREG bureau. He prepared a legal opinion on the expansion of the European Convention on Human Rights and recognition of the human right to an intact environment that was commissioned by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in 2002.
Dirk Vollmer always intended to become a lawyer and worked for law firms in Karlsruhe and Heidelberg on a freelance basis during his legal traineeship. He was admitted to practise in 2003 and has specialized in family law since 2007. Between 2003 and 2011 Dirk Vollmer worked at a law firm in Karlsruhe. He co-founded the law firm Dr. Schneider & Partner in 2011. He is the author of numerous specialist publications on the internet and in print media. Dirk Vollmer also has a lively interest in music and was a singer and guitarist in a rock group between 1994 and 2004.
